Before you agree to anything, ask
Use these to compare providers too.
- Who exactly will do my treatment?
- What is their license, and can I look it up?
- What training do they have with this device or product?
- Is this treatment suitable for my skin type and health history?
- How many visits will I likely need?
- What aftercare do you recommend?
- What is your plan if there is a complication?
- What will the whole thing cost, all in?
Your consultation notes
It helps to treat a consultation like any appointment where you need to make a decision. Bring notes in, and leave with notes.
Going in, have your health history, medications, allergies and past treatments written down, plus your questions. Coming out, write down who you met, what they suggested, the device or product named, the aftercare, and the total cost they quoted. Notes make it much easier to compare providers or sleep on it.
Red flags worth noticing
- You are told a special offer ends today.
- No one asks about your health history.
- Treatment is offered before any consultation.
- You cannot get a clear answer about who will perform it or what license they hold.
- The cost changes or will not be put in writing.
Any one of these is a good reason to slow down. State boards in Texas let you look up a license online.
A licensed provider decides what is suitable for you. Send a request to begin that conversation.
